Ama Dablam

Mount Ama Dablam, recognized as the prettiest mountain in the world, lies alongside Everest, in the heart of the Khumbu Valley. The mountain gets its name after Dablam – an ornament box worn by Sherpa women because the glacier that hangs on the southwest of the mountain looks like a Dablam. The altitude of Ama Dablam mountain is only 6,812 m, but the trail is challenging because of steep ice, rock, and snow. The mountain lies on UNESCO World Heritage Site – Sagarmatha National Park in the south of the Mount Everest.

 

One of the most impressive mountains for climbing, Ama Dablam provides the best views of Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu, Mount Cho Oyu, and Mount Everest. Considered as an ornament of the Himalayas, there are three camps above the base camp (4,570 m), with only two camps used for spending the nights. South-west ridge is a usual climbing route to the mountain.

It can be as long as 30 days expedition from Kathmandu if you include the popular areas around and in the route to Ama Dablam.
