Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazaar, one of the most popular Bazaars lying at a high altitude of 3,500 m, is the staging point to Everest expeditions, including some other Himalayan peaks. Lying in Solukhumbu District, in Province 1, Namche Bazaar is a small market that sells everything like Tibetan artifacts, trekking or climbing gears, and other general stuff.

 

Trekkers receive complete information about EBC trails and treks at the visitor center at park headquarters and learn about the lifestyle, cultures, and uniqueness of Sherpas – the mountain beasts. Homemade yak cheese and butter is one of the most popular food items in Namche. Known as a historic trading hub, Namche has the best views of Himalayan peaks to offer you from its every corner.

 

Situated on the slope of an arch-shaped mountain, Namche Bazaar, the center of the Khumbu region, allows trading of traditional crafts among Tibetan traders and Sherpas. No matter how prosperous the Bazaar has grown, the ancient culture, traditions, friendly nature of the traders, and warm hospitality are still the same.

Several Sherpa villages like Syangboche, Thame, Khunde, Khumjung, etc. are around the Bazaar that can be reached within half an hour to one hour walk that can be a source of acclimatization, and to experience cultural diversity. Saturdays bring enthusiasm and energy among the local traders who light up the Bazaar with fair that acts as a spotlight on the town’s center. The entire area is crowded by trekkers, local habitats, and Tibetan traders.

 

A primary gateway to Everest, Namche Bazaar, is famous for its ancient goods, climbing gears. It has become one of the busiest tourist hubs that sell large number of trekking gears. trekkers can buy any of their missing gears as their last essential shopping before the major trekking.
