Upper Mustang, Dolpa, Simikot Pony Trek

Pony trek to remote areas of Upper Mustang, Dolpa, and Simikot is quite popular among trekkers and non-trekkers. Even the kids in these areas use horses to travel to their schools or other places. Horse riding or pony trek is an everyday activity in these regions, and horses or ponies are the only means of transportation to the trans-Himalayan area.

 

The trails can vary for horses, and it might not be as same as the trails that humans take to reach the destinations. The trails defined for horses are called ghodeto (for horses). Even if you do not want to ride on a horse and trek on foot instead, you can use them to carry your burden or loads and make the trekking journey easier.
