Id UI Fitar

Ed-Ul-Fitra, the end of the holy month of Ramadan where people perform Roza - month-long fasting from sunrise to sunset, is one of the popular festivals among Muslims in Islam religion. The festival falls in May and is of one day. People gather at Masjid, offer Eid Namaaz, and celebrate with one another.

The festival of love, hugs, and togetherness, Eid, gets a public holiday in Nepal. People allocate time out of their busy lives for Allah and to remember loved ones in his prayers. People wish each other by greeting Eid Mubarak and hugging. It falls on the month of Shawwal and this day, they break their month-long fast.

As the Islamic festivals follow the lunar calendar, and not the Gregorian calendar, the date of the festival can vary slightly each year. The festival is all about self-discipline, and prayers to Allah. Muslims, on this festival, and the month of Ramadan, also perform charitable acts like feeding the needy and providing alms to them.

Eid, the joyous occasion, lets people come close, celebrate happiness, and be grateful for things they have received from Allah. Once the moon is seen, the greetings begin along with hugs and gifts. People wear new clothes, and the feast is prepared in several houses where they invite families and friends.
