Sikles

Sikles, one of the picturesque villages of Nepal, is 20 km away from the beautiful city, Pokhara. Situated in Kaski District of Gandaki Province, Sikles is gaining popularity in recent days because of a popular trekking destination- Kapuche Glacier Lake – claimed lowest altitude glacier lake. 

 

Situated at an altitude of 2000 m, Sikles is a clean village with splendid views of mountain ranges like Annapurna IV, Annapurna II, and Lamjung Himal. One of the rawest trekking trails, Sikles – Kapuche, is a 2 to 3 days package. Trekkers usually stay one night at Sikles before leaving for Hugu Goth, which is near Kapuche Glacier Lake that lies at an altitude of 2,546 m from sea level.

 

Indigenous Gurung Village, Sikles is rich in the culture and traditions of Gurung people. Sikles is one of the popular Gurung Community homestays destinations like Ghalegaun, Bhujung, and Ghandruk. If you are interested to learn the lifestyles of Gurung people, you should forget hotels and accommodate in a homestay in Sikles.

 

With different accommodation facilities like hotels and homestays, the stay at Sikles is comfortable and memorable. Famous for different local drinks and Nepali cuisines, this village is a weekend destination for locals of Pokhara. Bikers, friends, hikers, nature lovers, families, and trekkers come to Sikles to experience lifetime memories. Sikles lies above Madi Khola, and its route is looked after by the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA), who also promotes tourism in this area.

 

You can find a local bus from Amar Singh Chowk in Pokhara or even take a private jeep and reach Sikles within five hours drive. The road to Sikles is graveled and risky in some regions, and the vehicle has to pass through a river too. Before reaching Sikles, there are some villages on the way, like Taprang Village, Chipli Gaun, and Khilang, where you can rest and take snacks.
