Understand Nepal > adventure > Hot Air Balloon Ride
Hot air balloon, a new and exciting adventure activity of Nepal after it was shut down once long back that lets you fly in the high sky, is gaining a surprising number of clients even in a short period. Unlike all other existing adventure activities, ballooning provides pristine views of the sunrise, mountain ranges, peaks, lakes, and mesmerizing city of Pokhara.
The hot air ballooning is available only in Dhampus or Landruk of Pokhara, the starting point of the takeoff. With five flights of balloon per day, the hot air balloon will take you 500 m above Pokhara and let you come close to mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, Lamjung, etc. for 40 to 60 minutes depending on the maximum height it takes you. The landing takes place in the Mardi river bank after crossing several forests, lakes, and an entire valley. The perfect time to take a hot air balloon flight is from September and May. The rest months fall under monsoon season, which is risky for balloon flights. Other times, the flights can be canceled due to bad weather or varying direction of wind conditions.
Out of all the flight-based adventures like mountain flights, aircraft motions, micro flight, Heli tours, etc. hot air ballooning is the most promising of all that takes you on a slow flight with open space, standing on the basket with hot air balloon on top of you. You will experience a bird-eye view of landscapes and float on the sky as close as the clouds.
The price of the flight depends on the maximum height of flight. It also varies for private chartered balloons and group shared aircraft. Usually, for domestic customers, the price is NPR 9,000, and for international customers, it is120 USD, which can slightly vary for different offers and packages. With 25 employees who re professionals of the same field, the entire trip is guided and safe. The team has also planned to extend the services to other touristic places like Chitwan and Lumbini.
