Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, the gem of eastern Nepal, is the paradise for every birdwatcher!  The walk through Koshi Tappu is captivating, unique species of animals and birds are spying on you, and you will have suspense in your every step. Endangered Arna, a kind of wild buffalo with enormous horns, is the king of the Tappu that roam at the edge of the Sapta Koshi River. One of the main reasons behind the establishment of this reserve is to protect these wild beasts.

 

Covering just an area of 175 km2, exploring the entire wildlife reserve is possible within 90 minutes. Walking 6 km lets you witness different species of flora and fauna, and provide you a unique experience of a lifetime.

 

One of the famous birds watching sanctuaries of Asia, Koshi Tappu, is home to many migrant birds from places like the UK and Syberia, making their ultimate travel, to receive warmth every year. Wildlife enthusiasts and photographers find it exciting!

Koshi Tappu, a mixture of river lagoons, woodlands, and grasslands, can be reached in an hour from Biratnagar. A flight from the capital to Biratnagar is 45 minutes long. If you wish to travel by bus, it takes 12 hours approximately from Kathmandu. The most thrilling and challenging route is the water route. You can raft down the Sun Koshi river for ten days and make it to this place full of adventures that require professional guidance.
