Accommodation

Nepal, an Asian country, is one of the most affordable destinations for all kinds of international tourists, with $10 a day on average. Accommodation facilities in Nepal are quite suitable for wanderers with different choices from staying at an expensive resort to a local homestay. But the facility can vary depending upon which place you are traveling.

You will find all sorts of accommodations in major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan, with price going as high as $ 300 per night on a 5* hotel or a jungle resort. Other cities will offer you a good range of guesthouses, with average facilities. If you are on your trekking trail, the hotels will have comparatively lesser facilities, and the price can still be high.

One of the unique accommodations in Nepal is a homestay, which is quite cheap. A homestay lets you stay in a house enjoying local food, and learning about their cultures, traditional clothes, music, and traditions. To experience Nepal's best, one should not miss staying at a homestay as it has a lot to offer and is run by a local homestay committee with a target to enhance tourism in their villages. Most popular homestays are available at Ghandruk, Ghalegaun, Sirubari, Sikles, etc. near Pokhara and are mostly run by the Gurung community.

Prices drop around 50% outside October to December. But resorts that are located in forests away from busy cities can be expensive though out the year. You can ask for discounts, and it works in some of the places. The accommodations in major trekking trails like Everest Base Camp trail, Annapurna Base Camp trail, etc. offer tourists with facilities like hot water shower, electricity, Internet, and Western food. The less popular trails might fail to provide these facilities, but the way they welcome you and treat you is priceless.

Advanced booking in hotels is a smart move if you are on your trekking trails, especially from October to December, when the hotels are flooded with tourists. You can end up at a poor lodge and have a horrible experience with a squat toilet, cold shower, mosquitoes, and noise. Therefore, reservations and bookings can help you stay at better hotels with better facilities, even during traveling.
