Chepang Village Tour (Bagmati Province)

Chepang village lies 80 km from Kathmandu and is a newly explored trekking trail standing at an altitude of 1,950 m and covering Chitwan – Dhading regions. Recognized as Chitwan Chepang Hills Trail, the trail is unique because of the most ethnic group of Nepal – Chepang. The village and the trail are named after the same community of people who have a unique language and completely fascinating lifestyle.

Chepangs are believed to be influenced by Tamang ethnic groups, but follow a nomadic life with hunting, fishing, distinct farming near jungles, and foraging wild roots as their primary lifestyle. The village is famous for Praja Pande (known as faith healer), attracting many tourists. The Chepangs cover the remote and sparse contours of Makawanpur, Chitwan, Gorkha, and Dhading districts.

The Chepang village trail is unspoiled and is perfect for sightseeing of mountains like Dhaulagiri and Kanchenjunga. With unique landscapes, the trail is alluring. The village is full of good vibes as locals indulge in songs, dances, craftsmanship, and are welcoming in nature with their warm hospitality towards tourists. The main food items in the village are honey and wine. The trip's highlight can witness the lifestyle of the Chepang people who love to live in such isolated jungles.

The best seasons to travel the village are Spring and Autumn. You can reach the village on a bus or any private vehicle. With different hotels, resorts, tea houses, and camping, accommodation is comfortable.
